FREE EPR FEE TOOL

EU packaging EPR fee calculator.

Estimate a 2026 packaging EPR fee for any of the 27 EU markets from sourced, dated tariffs, then browse every published rate with its original wording and primary source.

Packaging EPR fees in the EU are charged per kilogram of each material and typically run from under 0.10 EUR to over 2 EUR per kilogram, set by the country, the scheme you register with and increasingly the recyclability grade. Gramta tracks 3,074 sourced, dated fee records across all 27 EU countries and 123 schemes, reviewed 11 Aug 2026. Pick a market to estimate a fee or inspect its published rates.

Compare a material's fee across the EU

Search a packaging material to see its published per-kilogram EPR fee in every market that publishes one. Each rate stays in its own market's currency and links to its source.

Type at least two letters to search.

How are EPR fees calculated?

Packaging EPR fees are calculated per kilogram: each material has its own rate, and you multiply that rate by the annual weight you place on a market. Rates vary widely by material and recyclability. In France's Citeo tariff, steel is charged at about 0.06 EUR per kilogram while rigid PVC is about 2.10 EUR per kilogram. The calculator above applies the exact published rate for the scheme and material you choose, then adds your materials into one yearly total.

What is eco-modulation, and how does it change the fee?

Eco-modulation means a scheme charges more for packaging that is hard to recycle and less for packaging that is easy to recycle. Several EU schemes already publish separate rates for recyclable and non-recyclable tiers of the same material, so two otherwise identical products can pay very different fees. From 2030 the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) ties packaging fees to a recyclability grade across the bloc, which turns a product's recyclability into a direct cost driver.

How does the EPR fee calculator stay current?

Every page is generated from Gramta's central fee dataset. Correcting one source record updates the country pages, calculator, citations, downloadable text and sitemap together on the next deployment.

Gramta is an EPR & PPWR packaging compliance platform for EU sellers.

  • Every fee line keeps its publisher, source link, review date and effective period.
  • Expired prices are removed from the current calculator instead of being carried forward.
  • Only standalone weight-based material fees are multiplied. Other formulas stay visible but are not guessed.
  • Where several organisations compete, you must choose the one you actually use. There is no invented national default.

EPR fee calculator questions

How much does packaging EPR cost in the EU?

Packaging EPR is charged per kilogram of each material, and published rates run from under 0.10 EUR to over 2 EUR per kilogram depending on the country, the scheme, packaging scope and recyclability tier. There is no single EU price, so this calculator applies an exact route and source tariff line rather than a blended average.

Which EU countries do not publish packaging EPR fee rates?

Most EU packaging schemes publish per-kilogram tariffs, but a few do not. Germany's dual systems price through a quote or an online calculator rather than one public national tariff, and some markets set rates by private negotiation. Gramta marks each of these states honestly and links the source instead of inventing a figure.

Can I compare EPR fees between countries?

You can compare published tariff lines when their scope, unit and packaging category match, but many national fees are not like-for-like. Some prices include only a material component, while others add membership, fixed, per-unit or modulation charges.

Why does Germany show negotiated EPR prices?

Germany's dual systems generally provide packaging-licensing prices through quotes or online calculators rather than one public national tariff. The dataset records that verified availability state and does not substitute a price from another system.

Is this EPR fee estimate suitable for filing?

No. The result is a planning subtotal for one selected material tariff and weight. A filing-grade calculation must also apply the merchant's full packaging specification, sales by market, actual scheme contract, fixed charges, thresholds and any modulation rules.

When were the EPR fee rates last checked?

The dataset-level review date and each tariff row's own checked date are displayed on the page. Rows also carry an effective end date; expired rows are not used for a current estimate.

Turn the estimate into a reporting workflow

Gramta combines your real sales with the packaging specification you provide once, then maps the right weights and categories to each market, turning ballpark estimates into EPR reports for every market, down to the article number, plus PPWR documentation.
